đˇââď¸Fixed: Statue petition link
We accidentally included the wrong link to a petition protesting two statues of saints on the new public safety building
Hello again, friends!
A couple of people wrote in to say that we sent out the wrong link for the Change.org petition that a resident (and AJQ member!) created to protest the plan for two statues of saints to adorn the new public safety building. The correct link is here for anyone whoâd like to sign it. Apologies for the error!
Hello, justice-loving Quincyans!
Just a note to point you to a blog post by AJQ executive committee member and professional financial planner Spencer Henderson on the financial state of the city. Spencer used the cityâs audited financial statements to track its ânet positionâ (the value of its assets minus the value of its debts) over time.
The resulting graph is eye-opening, to say the least:
The current administration has put us in this position (the mayor first took office in 2008, when the city was in the black). But donât despair - hereâs what you can do to help dig our way out of it:
If youâd like to join Spencerâs finance committee, please email info@ajustquincy.com. Thereâs lots of research to be done!
Share that graph and blog post widely with your friends and neighbors, along with a request for them to sign up for our mailing list at bit.ly/ajqlist. Information is power!
If youâd like to run for office, check out our online resources and fill out our Google form for interested candidates ASAP! Weâre already well into February and the election for city council and school committee is on November 4!
Speaking of the election, fill out your city census form when it comes so you stay on the active voter list, and check your voter registration at bit.ly/mavoter.
If you donât want to run for office but want to help elect candidates who champion transparency, communication, and accountability, please fill out this volunteer form: bit.ly/ajqcanhelp.
